Sight
To begin, pour a sample of the wine into your glass and tilt it slightly away from yourself, preferably against a white background. Then, examine the wine's color and clarity.
Upon first glance, you should be able to determine the wine’s:
- Condition: Wine should be brilliant and clear, not cloudy or murky.
- Age: Young white wines range in color from almost clear white to clear yellow. If a young wine has a brownish tinge it is possibly oxidized.
