Ramsay's Tips For A Top-Notch Summer Party

  • Plan Ahead

Prepare everything as far ahead as possible so that the bulk of the work is completed, and all you have left to do is bring together the elements for the grand finale. (After all, you don't want to be running around in bloody chaos when your guests arrive.) Marinate your meats the day before. Chop up your vegetables. And prep your sauces and other recipe elements on the morning of your party.

  • Stay Cool

In the warmest months of the year, the sun's heat can be intense. So make sure you provide your guests with plenty of shade. If you have minimal trees in your backyard, set up umbrellas or rent a canopy to shield your guests from the sun's powerful rays. And always have bottled water and other ice-cold beverages on-hand to keep them hydrated.

  • Fresher Is Better

There's nothing more beautiful and appetizing than an array of crisp, vibrant dishes in the summertime. So keep your outdoor offerings fresh by placing them in bowls or serving platters over ice.

  • Set Up Stations

Place your food and drinks in separate areas so that you don't create a traffic jam of guests lined up.

  • Make It Quick

Delicious, summer food doesn't have to take a long time to prepare. Keep the ingredients seasonal and fresh. I usually tend to go with simple, grilled seafood. Of course, since children love burgers, it's best to have a bit of both.

  • For The Perfect Grilled Meats

Start with your meat at room temperature. (If your meat is cold from the refrigerator when you start cooking, the outside will be burnt before the center has had time to warm through.) Also, avoid prodding the meat that you are barbecuing, or you will release all of the juices. Instead, let it rest on the plate.

  • And When It Comes To Wine...

Whites best complement summer's lighter fare, as well as your tangy, smoked barbecue. Keep your Rosemount whites chilled in a bucket of ice so they’re ready to serve. Also, do small pours so the wine stays cool in your guests’ glasses.

  • Lastly, A Scrumptious Bit Of Sweet

For a delightful finale, my Lemon Tart with Summer Berries or summer berry meringues always makes a fantastic dessert.
